Where does my data live?
In a Google Sheet in your own Google Drive. Compass is a webapp that connects to YOUR Drive and writes everything — transactions, balances, FIRE projections, budgets — directly to that one Sheet. There is no Compass database, no Compass server holding your numbers. The Sheet is yours; Compass just reads and writes it on your behalf.
What exactly can Compass see?
Only the single Google Sheet it creates for you. Nothing else in your Drive is visible to Compass — not your other documents, not your photos, not other spreadsheets. Google enforces this at the platform level.
What if Compass shuts down?
Your Sheet keeps working. All formulas, FX conversions, FIRE projections live inside it as native spreadsheet logic. You don't need our app to keep using your tracker.
Is the $19 really one-time?
